A man recounts how he lost access to ₦3 million he lent a close friend to support proof of funds for relocating to Canada.
He sourced the funds from his wife for the friend’s journey
He explained that he obtained the money from his spouse because the friend was well known to both of them.
After the friend arrived in Canada, he was told the money had been transferred to the friend’s father with instructions to return it.
The friend’s father declines to return the money
The man said the elder insisted his son should handle repayment and used the cash to buy a new motorcycle.
He added that his attempts to recover the funds have failed so far.
He shared his experience: “I borrowed a friend ₦3 million to add to the proof of funds he needed to travel to Canada. I got the money from my wife, and because this friend is a close pal, my wife knows him very well.”
He continued: “To cut the long story short, the dad has refused to release the money, saying his son—my friend—should find a way to refund me himself. Meanwhile, the man has used the money to purchase a brand‑new motorcycle.”
He also said: “I even called the man to explain how urgently I need the money, but he simply hissed and hung up on me. Honestly, I’m so pissed.”
The story triggered online reactions, with many social media users discussing trust, friendship, and financial dealings involving family members.
