Former Arsenal Midfielder Samir Nasri Questioned in French Money Laundering Probe
Former Arsenal and Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri was questioned by French police for roughly ten hours as part of a money laundering investigation linked to alleged organised drug trafficking.
According to Le Parisien, reported via talkSPORT, the 39‑year‑old former France international was held in custody on Thursday before being released that evening without any charges.
Officers from the Financial Investigation and Research Brigade (BRIF) of the Paris judicial police questioned Nasri over his alleged ties to Hakim Berrebouh, a convicted Marseille drug trafficker known as “Le Marcassin,” and his associate Olivier Sabbah.
Investigators are examining Nasri’s connection through his former shareholding in the Marseille nightclub XS.
Although he has been released without charge, authorities say he could be recalled for further questioning and may still face a possible indictment as the probe continues.
Nasri began his career at Marseille before moving to Arsenal in 2008. After three seasons in North London, he transferred to Manchester City, where he won two Premier League titles. He also earned 41 caps for France over a decade‑long international career.
