Former ADC Governor Bindow Announces Resignation Ahead of 2027 Elections
Former Adamawa State Governor Senator Mohammed Umar Jibrilla Bindow has formally resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), effective July 15, 2026.
Bindow, who governed Adamawa from 2015 to 2019, said the decision came after “careful reflection and extensive consideration” of his personal convictions, political aspirations and dedication to serving the people.
In his resignation letter, he wrote:
I write to formally tender my resignation from the African Democratic Congress, ADC, effective from July 15, 2026.

He added that the move aligns with his vision and responsibilities to the constituents he has always sought to serve.
Bindow expressed gratitude for the opportunity to have been part of the party and wished the ADC leadership and members success in their future endeavours.
The resignation is seen as a setback for the ADC as it prepares for the 2027 general elections, especially in the North‑East region where Bindow retains considerable influence.
