ADC Chieftain Eze Condemns Kenneth Okonkwo’s Remarks
A prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has launched a scathing rebuttal against Kenneth Okonkwo following Okonkwo’s criticism of the party’s decision to name Chibuike Amaechi as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate.
Eze described Okonkwo’s comments as “misguided and unfortunate trash,” asserting that the former Nollywood actor is confused and overzealous, treating politics as if it were a movie script.
Okonkwo Labeled an ‘Emerging Betrayer’
The ADC stalwart went further, branding Okonkwo an “emerging betrayer” who speaks from both sides of his mouth. Eze pointed out that Okonkwo’s recent attack on Atiku stems not from Amaechi’s selection but from his own fear of a ₦5 billion defamation suit filed by Peter Obi, whom Okonkwo once praised as Nigeria’s best political leader.
Eze added that, having allegedly “taken Peter Obi to the cleaners” and then deserted Atiku’s camp, Okonkwo now appears to be retiring from politics, digging his own political grave.
Amaechi’s Igbo Connection and Electoral Strength
Defending Amaechi’s candidacy, Eze noted that although Amaechi hails from the South‑South, he is married to Dame Judith Amaechi, an Igbo woman. According to Igbo custom, this marriage automatically makes Amaechi a son of the South‑East.
Eze highlighted that Atiku’s history of choosing Igbo running mates — Senator Ben Obi, Peter Obi, and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa — continues with Amaechi, negating any claim of South‑East marginalisation. He argued that Amaechi’s credentials surpass those of other South‑South and South‑East politicians, positioning him as the optimal choice to secure victory in the 2027 general elections for both the ADC and Nigeria.
Conclusion: A United Front for Nigeria
In closing, Eze praised the partnership between Atiku and Amaechi, describing them as “refined, tested and trusted democrats.” He expressed confidence that their combined effort will bring Nigeria closer to rescuing the nation and capturing Aso Rock.
