ADC Condemns Court Ruling, Calls for Judge’s Arrest
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly rejected a Federal High Court decision in Abuja that ordered the deregistration of the party and four others from participating in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, denounced the ruling as unlawful and accused the presiding judge of disregarding an earlier Appeal Court directive.
According to Abdullahi, the Appeal Court had explicitly instructed that no further action be taken on the matter until the case is fully heard on October 27. He argued that the judge’s decision to proceed despite that order constitutes contempt of court, a criminal offence.
“Justice Lifu should be arrested. The Appeal Court said he should not act until the case is heard on October 27,” Abdullahi stated. “The judge is acting in contempt of court, which is a criminal act. What basis did they deliver the judgment?”
The ADC maintains that the ruling lacks a solid legal foundation and should not stand in its present form. The party contends that the decision undermines judicial procedure and raises serious concerns about compliance with court processes.
For the ADC, the verdict appears to have no substantive legal standing, and the party remains convinced that the action taken cannot be justified under the law.
