Peter Obi Dares Critics to Prove LP Donations Claims
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has called on his detractors to furnish concrete evidence that he misappropriated funds donated to the Labour Party (LP) during the 2023 general elections. He declared that he would cease campaigning immediately if such allegations are substantiated.
Describing the accusations as baseless, Obi urged those behind the claims to present verifiable proof to support their assertions. He noted that allegations of financial wrongdoing have persisted without any evidence being made public.
“I don’t go by people talking nonsensically and listen to them. He said that we took from the Labour Party’s account ₦10 billion or $30 million. Where is the account?” Obi asked, questioning the basis of the allegation and insisting that no proof has been produced to show the existence of such funds or any irregularity in the management of campaign donations.
Obi added that he is compiling a list of individuals who have made allegations against him and will soon challenge them to substantiate their claims.
“I’m going to include every accuser very soon in the list of the people I want to come out and prove that I took money from the Labour Party’s account or any financial mismanagement allegation,” he said.
Record Open to Scrutiny
The NDC candidate maintained that his record in public office and political engagements remains open to scrutiny, stressing that he has nothing to hide.
“Look, if anyone can prove that I took one per cent of Labour Party’s donations, I will stop campaigning,” Obi stated.
