Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has sparked debate by claiming black-on-black oppression in Africa outweighs racial injustice faced by Black communities in America.
In a recent BET interview, the artist acknowledged racism persists in the United States. But he argued America now offers better conditions for Black people than African nations governed by Black leaders. Odumodublvck stated: “We cannot deny America is now a better place for Black people. The suffering there doesn’t compare to what Blacks endure from fellow Blacks in Africa.”
Reactions have been divided. Critics call the comparison unfair. Others believe it highlights systemic failures in African societies.
Odumodublvck Addresses Industry Envy
Separately, the ‘Pity This Boy’ hitmaker addressed envy within Nigeria’s music industry. He claims colleagues resent his international success despite questioning his talent.
Odumodublvck emphasized he outpaces other Nigerian rappers in global features and bookings. He attributes this to his dual skills: “I sing my hooks, my songs are hits. That’s why I get more opportunities.”
He challenged detractors: “Those who say they’re better should outsell my records and outperform my shows. The envy runs deep when talent doesn’t match results.” The rapper remains undeterred: “We ignore negativity and push forward. This success journey won’t stop soon.”
