A woman came back from a friend’s owambe celebration only to discover that her husband and children had vacated their rented home while she was away.
Online sources revealed that the couple had been struggling financially, with two years of rent arrears.
The landlord had issued a final notice, prompting the pair to discuss ways to reduce costs and save money.
Family Encounters Multiple Difficulties
The husband reportedly urged his wife to skip the social gathering, stressing that every naira needed to be conserved.
Nevertheless, she decided to go, explaining that she had already bought her aso ebi and did not want to let her friend down.
During her absence over the public holiday, an accident happened at home involving the children.
It was reported that the older child unintentionally spilled hot water on her younger sister while trying to prepare a meal.
The injured girl was taken to hospital for care; the husband was alerted and left work after failing to reach his wife. The child was later discharged after receiving treatment.
Landlord’s Ultimatum Results in Relocation
Around the same time, the landlord allegedly gave the family 48 hours to leave the property. Facing the deadline, the husband sold his motorcycle, borrowed funds from his brother, and secured a smaller flat elsewhere.
With help from neighbours, he moved the family’s belongings and relocated with the children before his wife’s return.
Upon returning from the party, the woman found the former apartment empty and locked.
She reportedly started asking neighbours whether anyone knew where her husband and children had moved.
