Senator Adams Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North in the Senate, disclosed that he was removed as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a Zoom conference held at the Aso Rock Villa.
Oshiomhole’s Role in Buhari’s 2015 Victory
He stated that his strategic expertise and organisational skills were vital to President Muhammadu Buhari’s success in the 2015 presidential election. According to Oshiomhole, he and his colleagues in the National Working Committee resolved leadership disputes in both the Senate and the House of Representatives, allowing the president to avoid extensive nationwide campaigning.
After the party’s internal structure was stabilised, Oshiomhole said he was dismissed via a Zoom call. Opponents later claimed that eight members of his ward had signed a petition expressing a vote of no confidence, which they used to obtain an interim court order. Although he appealed and the Court of Appeal initially overturned the order, it was later reinstated. A few days afterward, a National Executive Council meeting conducted by Zoom at the villa confirmed his removal.
