Oshiomhole Questions Peter Obi’s Trustworthiness
Former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole has criticised the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, saying his statements cannot be relied upon.
Oshiomhole argued that Obi lacks a solid political reputation and has a habit of avoiding party primaries, preferring to join movements where the nomination is already secured.
He recalled that Obi initially refused to leave the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) after the late Ikemba Nnewi, Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu, handed him the party and later made him governor.
After that, Obi joined another party in a bid to become vice‑president, but after losing the primaries he did not stay to rebuild; instead he moved to the Labour Party.
According to Oshiomhole, the Labour Party handed Obi its presidential ticket on a silver platter, and he claimed to have garnered eight million votes.
Rather than strengthening that platform and addressing its internal challenges, Obi allegedly sought a ready‑made opportunity elsewhere.
Oshiomhole said Obi then attempted to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), but when the party insisted on holding a primary election, he withdrew and opted for the NDC, again avoiding the initial contest stage.
