Allegation of Attack on Ataoja Inside Palace
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has accused APC thugs of opening fire on the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Larooye II, inside the monarch’s palace.
The governor said the attack occurred after the Ataoja publicly endorsed Adeleke for a second term, and that live bullets struck both the king and some of his subjects.
Adeleke’s Appeal to APC Leadership
Adeleke directly challenged the National Secretary of the APC, Ajibola Bashiru — whom he described as a son of Osogbo — to rein in his party members.
He questioned why thugs were sent to the Ataoja’s residence, accusing the party of desecrating a throne that raised one of its own.
The governor urged the Inspector‑General of Police to act swiftly, insisting that desperate politicians must be exposed and disgraced.
Ataoja’s Account and Call for Peace
In a video attached to the governor’s post, the Ataoja recounted surviving the attack, noting that on the same day gunmen shot his son, who heads a political party in the state.
The monarch said the culprit is now in remand in Ilesa and appealed to political actors to settle their differences through the ballot rather than violence.
