Bambam Responds to Phone Theft Allegations at Alex Ekubo’s Service of Songs
Reality TV star Olawunmi Adenibuyan, popularly known as Bambam, has spoken out after a video circulated online showing a woman removing a phone from her bag during the service of songs held in honour of the late actor Alex Ekubo in Lagos.
Bambam clarified that the lady seen in the footage is her personal assistant and emphasized that the assistant did not take her phone.
She said she only realised her phone was missing after leaving the venue and getting into her car.
The mother of two explained that the event was crowded, with many people approaching her for greetings and selfies, making it hard to pinpoint exactly when the device disappeared.
Her first reaction was concern over the data stored on the phone.
“I got into my car and noticed my phone wasn’t with me. The video circulating around of a lady removing a phone from my bag was my personal assistant. Probably while we were hugging and exchanging pleasantries or at any point when people came for selfies,” she said.
She added, “The first thing that hit me was compassion. I was really sad that my contacts, videos, and lots of photos weren’t backed up on the cloud. Then I felt compassion again – what would make anyone think a service of songs is a place to rob? It wasn’t just my phone; a friend and even one of Alex Ekubo’s brothers lost theirs too.”
Bambam urged the public to stop dragging her personal assistant into the controversy, stating unequivocally that the aide had nothing to do with the theft.
