Atiku Abubakar Wins ADC Presidential Primary in Kano
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar secured a decisive victory in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary held in Kano State, polling 155,595 votes.
According to the electoral committee chairman, Dr John Ayuba, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen came second with 15,914 votes, while former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi trailed with 9,994 votes.
Results to be Forwarded for Ratification
Dr Ayuba announced that the collated figures would be transmitted to the party’s National Coalition Centre in Abuja for final ratification and the official declaration of the ADC flag bearer.
Call for Party Unity
He urged all ADC members to remain united and work collectively toward producing Nigeria’s next president.
Governorship Primaries Suspended
Meanwhile, the ADC has postponed the announcement of the governorship primary results in Kano pending a decision from the national leadership.
The governorship contest is between Ibrahim Ali Amin Little and Malam Ibrahim Khalil, with the party exploring a consensus arrangement to select its candidate.
Hayatu-Deen Declines to Attend Result Announcement
Presidential aspirant Mohammed Hayatu-Deen stated on social media that he will not attend the ADC presidential election results announcement, citing concerns over alleged widespread vote rigging, some of which he said he personally observed.
He added that he is seeking advice on his next steps.
