Atiku Abubakar Secures Landslide Victory in ADC Presidential Primary in Sokoto
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar emerged victorious in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary conducted across the 23 local government areas of Sokoto State.
Chief returning officer Professor Aminu Abubakar announced the results on Monday, confirming that Atiku defeated former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
The vote tally showed Atiku receiving 68,823 votes, Hayatu-Deen securing 319 votes, and Amaechi polling 292 votes. A total of 69,434 votes were cast during the exercise.
Professor Abubakar described the primary as peaceful and formally declared Alhaji Atiku Abubakar the presidential candidate with the highest number of votes in Sokoto.
The announcement was made in the presence of officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security personnel, and party stakeholders. Notable attendees included former Sokoto State governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, ADC governorship candidate Mannir Dan Iya, senatorial candidate Faruk Malami Yabo, and state party chairman Abdullahi Maigwandu.
