APC Sets Date for Tinubu’s Certificate of Return Presentation Ahead of 2027 Election
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to receive the certificate of return and the APC flag on Sunday, confirming his status as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The announcement came from Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, in a statement released Saturday. The event will be attended by APC governors, members of the National Executive Committee, the National Working Committee, lawmakers and other party leaders.
The APC had previously conducted its presidential primary election as part of preparations for the 2027 polls.
Presenting the certificate and flag formally affirms Tinubu as the APC’s nominee for the upcoming election cycle.
Tinubu emerged victorious in the APC direct primary held nationwide, defeating his sole challenger, Osifo Osayamen Stanley.
Speaking earlier, Tinubu described the 2026 APC primaries across the country as evidence that the ruling party allows its members to fully participate in the democratic process.
He made these remarks on Saturday after casting his vote in the APC presidential primaries at Ikoyi‑Obalende Ward L2 in Lagos State.
The President praised party members for conducting the exercise peacefully and commended their participation and commitment throughout the process.
According to Tinubu, the primaries were organised properly from the ward level to the local government level, with governors and party officials in each state handling delegate accreditation, membership registration and other electoral activities in an orderly manner.
He added that the process reflected a healthy democratic system within the APC and showed that every member had the opportunity to be part of decision‑making at the grassroots level.
