Blaqbonez Rejects $1 Million Mavin Records Deal, Calls Himself ‘Mysterious’
Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, popularly known as Blaqbonez, has described himself as a mysterious figure.
Explaining his decision to turn down a lucrative offer, he said he does not enjoy constant social‑media activity or frequent fan interaction, which he feels clashes with the expectations of a major label.
He wrote, “I need to get this off my chest before Chanel drops. The reason I didn’t sign with Mavin when they were begging me with a million dollars is that I don’t really like posting. I prefer one tweet a year over engaging my fans; I’m too big for that — I’m mysterious.”
Views on Nigeria’s Political Landscape
In a recent appearance on the Off The Record podcast, Blaqbonez opened up about his stance on the country’s political system, revealing that he has never participated in any Nigerian election.
The artist expressed disappointment with the nation’s direction, stating that years of waiting for positive change without tangible results have eroded his hope.
He noted that many of his earlier expectations for Nigeria never materialised, prompting him to mentally detach from the political process.
Blaqbonez also argued that the nation’s leadership challenges are intertwined with the attitudes and mindset of its citizens, observing little difference between political parties and believing the same problems persist regardless of who holds power.
