Nigeria Learns Potential 2026 U-17 Women’s World Cup Opponents
The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup draw in Zurich on 21 May revealed the possible challengers awaiting Nigeria’s Flamingos should they secure a CAF slot. The African representative occupying CAF Slot 1 was placed in Group B with defending champions Korea DPR, Poland and debutants Puerto Rico.
Qualification Path Remains Uncertain
Nigeria has not yet booked its ticket to Morocco 2026. The Flamingos must first overcome Guinea in the second‑round qualifier. The first leg took place in Abidjan, with the return leg scheduled for 30 May at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
Having received a bye into this round, Nigeria must win the aggregate tie to advance. If successful, the team will face either Benin Republic or Sierra Leone in the final qualifying round for a place at the expanded 24‑nation tournament.
Group B Outlook
Group B looks formidable: Korea DPR, the defending champions, are traditionally strong in youth women’s football. Poland brings European experience, while Puerto Rico makes its maiden appearance at a FIFA U‑17 Women’s World Cup. Securing CAF Slot 1 would set up a compelling test for the Flamingos.
