Afrobeats star, Shallipopi, has strongly criticized popular entertainment critic, Daniel Regha. This reaction follows Regha’s negative review of Shallipopi’s latest album, ‘Auracle’.
Regha had suggested that the album should have been a shorter Extended Play (EP).
Despite his overall negative review, Regha did acknowledge one track. He praised ‘Pull Up,’ featuring Pa Salieu, for its strong flow. However, he still gave the album a very low rating.
Daniel Regha’s Critique of ‘Auracle’
In his detailed review, Regha stated that Shallipopi ‘can’t be considered a real artiste.’ He described him as ‘just someone who has access to a studio.’ However, Regha did credit Shallipopi for ‘putting his state on the map.’
Regha slammed the album ‘Auracle’ as a ‘painful listen.’ He noted a lack of ‘lyrical evolvement, substance, or creativity.’ According to the critic, ‘each track gets progressively worse from the previous one.’
He argued that Shallipopi ‘should [have] taken four or five tracks and call it an EP.’ Regha admitted the project ‘will do numbers’ due to current music tastes. Yet, he contended it would ‘not improve anyone’s IQ nor can it be a cultural reset.’
He singled out ‘Pull Up’ as an exception. Regha praised its ‘good flow,’ despite the lyrics. He added that Pa Salieu ‘bring[s] the track to life.’ Ultimately, Regha gave the album a dismal 1 out of 10 rating. He concluded his review with ‘No offense.’
Shallipopi Fires Back
Reacting to the critique, Shallipopi posted a concise reply. He directly addressed Regha on social media. The Afrobeats star simply told the critic, ‘You know nothing about music.’
