Ace Nigerian rapper and music executive Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide Baddo, has announced a significant shift in his life. He is now entering a new phase, entirely focused on himself.
Olamide Prioritizes Personal Growth
During a recent interview with Flow 98.7 FM, the YBNL boss shared his new direction. He explained that he has long balanced helping others with pursuing his own music career. Now, he has chosen to fully concentrate on his personal well-being and growth.
“Right now, I’m at the phase in my life where I’m really trying to give myself undivided attention,” Olamide stated.
Olamide reflected on his extensive years of supporting talents in the music industry. He noted his constant efforts to be present for those around him, all while managing his own career demands.
He added, “All my life I’ve been trying to be there for people and also trying to do my stuff. But right now, I’m really just trying to focus on myself 100 per cent.”
Impact on Emerging Artists
Beyond artists signed to YBNL, Olamide has provided significant platform support to many rising talents. He has featured them in songs that later became major hits. These artists include Zlatan Ibile, Naira Marley, Portable, and Bella Shmurda, among others.
Portable’s View on Industry Assistance
In a contrasting perspective, controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, recently suggested that assistance in the Nigerian music industry is strictly a business matter.
The “Zazu” crooner made this claim in a video posted on his Instagram page. He asserted that he has helped more people in the music industry than his colleagues Olamide, Don Jazzy, Wizkid, and Davido.
According to Portable, his support extends beyond the music industry. He also assists the less privileged.
Portable further added that when artists used for business ventures decide to become independent, many colleagues often label them as ungrateful.
