The faction loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed new expulsions. Several key party members are affected.
A statement from the faction revealed that the National Executive Committee expelled these individuals on November 18. The expulsions stem from alleged anti-party activities and gross misconduct. This action aligns with the amended 2017 PDP Constitution.
Who Made the Expulsion List?
The expulsion list includes three sitting governors. They are Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
The list also features former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Emmanuel Udom. Former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, and former Deputy National Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja, are also affected.
Further names on the expulsion list include Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, a former Minister of Special Duties. Ben Obi, a former Presidential Adviser, is also affected. Chief Bode George, a former Deputy National Chairman (South), made the list. So did Umar Iliya Damagum, the former Acting National Chairman.
Other individuals named in the expulsion include Okechukwu Obiechina, Emmanuel Ogidi, and Emmanuel Ebien. Suleiman Kadade Mohammed, Sunmaila Adamu Bunza, Koshoedo Setonji, and Daniel Woyengikuro are also on the list. Finally, Umar Sani is listed.
Faction Warns Against “Embarrassing Misrepresentation”
The Wike-led faction expressed serious concern. It cited what it called “embarrassing misrepresentation” by the expelled members. These individuals continue to speak and act as if they represent the PDP.
The faction urged party loyalists and the public to disregard statements or activities from these affected individuals. They emphasized that the expelled members no longer hold any membership or authority within the PDP.
Furthermore, the faction dismissed a recent gathering in Ibadan. This event involved some of the expelled members. They called it a “mere social event” and a “charade.” It was not an official national convention of the PDP.
Anyanwu, representing the faction, issued a stern warning. He declared: “Anybody parading himself as a newly elected national officer of the party is an impostor and a meddlesome interloper.”
