Nigerian comedian and Nollywood actor Ayo Makun, widely known as AY, recently engaged in a social media spat.
This occurred after he shared a message about friendship and loyalty. His post highlighted individuals who only appear when negative news spreads.
The popular filmmaker suggested that not everyone smiling around you genuinely wishes you well. He issued a strong caution:
“Beware of anyone who calls you a friend yet rushes to jump on any negative news about you just to trend and gain monetisation. Not everyone around you wishes you well.”
AY concluded, “May God protect us from friends who are truly enemies in disguise. Their karma is never far.”
However, an X user quickly responded to AY’s message. The user claimed AY once ignored him years ago in Surulere.
According to the individual, they met around 2008 or 2009. AY reportedly gave him a contact card. When the user called, a Personal Assistant (PA) consistently answered.
He then accused AY of “nepotism.” The troll added a warning: “If Alibaba treat you as you treat others, you for no dey where you dey today.” He further advised AY, “Beware of yourself.”
AY swiftly dismissed the accusation as untrue. He insisted he did not have a Personal Assistant in 2008.
He explained that he was still building his career at that time. The comedian also noted his strong relationship with fellow comedian Alibaba. He clarified that there has never been any issue between them.
