Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P., has responded to recent reports. These reports claim the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) lacks evidence. The EFCC allegedly has no proof to support Okoye’s claims against his brothers. His brothers are Jude Okoye and Paul Okoye, formerly of P-Square. Peter Okoye accused them of fraudulently withdrawing $800,000 from their company account.
Peter Okoye had earlier filed a petition. Consequently, the EFCC initiated financial misconduct charges. These charges were brought against Jude Okoye. They relate to his management of the P-Square brand.
During cross-examination, EFCC counsel M.K. Bashir made a statement. He informed Justice Rahman Oshodi that the commission could not provide proof. This proof was for the alleged $800,000 withdrawal.
The court pressed Bashir to substantiate the claim. Bashir responded, stating, “We do not have it. It is his evidence. Let him prove it. I can’t give what I don’t have.”
Bashir further denied possessing proof for the alleged 47 bank accounts. He added, “It is one of the witness’s claims, but I do not have such a copy.”
Peter Okoye reacted to these developments on his social media. He dismissed the reports as “jokes and propaganda.”
He stated that no such court session occurred. He claims the EFCC investigator never made these specific statements in court.
Okoye posted, “Joke and propaganda. Again, pushing false narratives to the media about a court session that never happened. Is this all to make me look bad? Social media no be judge.”
