The 2023 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo, has announced plans to strengthen the party to attract more defectors ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He confirmed that he has informed the party of his intention to run for president again in the 2027 elections.
He emphasized that ongoing efforts are focused on improving internal processes to handle challenges arising from an influx of new members, ensuring the party meets public expectations.
I have informed my party, the SDP, that I will be running for president again in 2027 and everyone in my party knows that I’m contesting again.
He added: “I am working with the party to strengthen it, invite more people into the party, and improve the quality of the processes within the party to manage the challenges of cultural clashes because of the new people coming into the party and see that the party does not disappoint Nigerians.”
He further stated: “The best prayer that can be offered is for the road to be rough because when your road is rough, you will enjoy and appreciate the destination when you get there.”
He concluded: “What we are trying to do is not to fake anything but to deal with issues. When the issues are external like government or other people, we deal with it. When the issues are internal, we don’t pretend, we deal with it.”
