Nollywood actor Taiye Arimoro has publicly challenged his recent suspension. The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), and Association of Movie Producers (AMP) issued the suspension. This decision followed an on-set altercation involving his colleague, Peggy Ovire.
Joint Decision by Nollywood Guilds
The AGN, DGN, and AMP released a joint statement on Friday. It detailed Arimoro’s suspension. The guilds concluded Arimoro was the primary aggressor. This conclusion came after reviewing disciplinary committee findings. The document, dated November 27, 2025, outlines their review.
Findings indicated Arimoro assaulted a production manager and a driver. He also circulated a misleading live video. This video misrepresented the events. It falsely implicated producer Peggy Ovire. She was not present during the initial confrontation.
Conditions for Reinstatement
The three guilds issued a unified decision. It suspends Arimoro from all Nollywood productions. This suspension remains in effect until further notice.
For reinstatement, Arimoro must meet specific conditions. He is expected to issue a public apology. This apology must go to the production manager, Peggy Ovire, and the director. He also needs to release a corrective video. This video should accurately state the sequence of events.
Furthermore, Taiye Arimoro has received instructions to complete his remaining movie scenes. This work must be done under supervised conditions. He is also required to fully comply with all future instructions from the guilds.
Taiye Arimoro’s Reaction
Arimoro quickly responded to the suspension. He took to his Instagram story. There, he questioned the basis of the guilds’ investigation.
He wrote, “Can someone please tell these ones to stop playing..? What was the basis of your investigation please..? Omo me, I think I’m in the mood for an IG live.”
