He elaborated on the circumstances surrounding the event. “Deja was performing, and I wasn’t there,” he explained. His family called him on video, ensuring he could still witness the special occasion. “They called, showed me, and it was her first performance,” he added.
He described the overwhelming feeling that washed over him. “I’m like, nah, this is crazy,” he recalled. “It’s like the price you have to pay for building and doing this thing.” He also spoke of the essential task of “looking after your family.”
This emotional conflict directly inspired his music. “Yeah, that’s one of the reasons I wrote ‘My Love is the Same’,” he shared. The artist acknowledged the unseen struggles many face. “I wouldn’t know what people go through,” he mused.
