Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has declared that his music industry senior, Olamide, will regret not signing him.
Portable attributed his journey from a “local rapper” to an international sensation. This remarkable rise, he explained, was due to perseverance, divine intervention, and crucial support from international artists like Skepta.
He firmly asserted his unstoppable nature. Portable stressed that Olamide would regret not supporting him. This, he claimed, was because he fought for his personal rights.
Portable expressed deep confidence in divine favour. “Even if people forget me, God will not,” he stated. He specifically thanked Skepta, describing him as a “helper” who lifted him from obscurity. He advised supporting those who offer support. Portable also noted that people often dislike those who refuse to be manipulated. Using Yoruba proverbs, he declared, “Ogun na money,” implying the struggle for wealth. He added, “Orunmila go carry me trabaye,” meaning divine forces would elevate him. He warned that those who undermine him would face swift repercussions. Portable proudly declared himself the “Zazuu” who transformed from a local to an international rapper. He also added a proverb, stating that “a friend of a thief is a thief.”
Under the banner of “ZEHNATION,” Portable spoke of various inspirations. He affirmed that no one could stop him when his destined time arrived. He reiterated his belief that Olamide Baddo would regret his decision. Portable explained this regret stemmed from Olamide’s failure to sign or collaborate with him. This happened after he advocated for his own rights. He invoked the “God of Zazu,” declaring that divine retribution awaited those who obstructed his path. He concluded this thought with the aspirational phrase, “I believe I can fly.”
Portable encouraged self-belief, stating one should not “beg to shine.” He credited God for sending him an international helper. He expressed certainty in his potential to surpass others. “It’s my name!” he exclaimed. He concluded by affirming his unique identity. “I still remain myself: Portable Omolalomi Tony Montana of London,” he stated confidently.
