A recent sermon by a Nigerian pastor has ignited widespread online debate. The cleric advised his congregants to utilize “juju” for defense. This counsel came in anticipation of potential bandit attacks.
He argued for spiritual fortification. The pastor asserted he could not be the only one protected. His church members, he believed, remained exposed.

Emphasizing Spiritual Preparedness
The pastor spoke passionately during his message. He stated: “My people must strengthen themselves spiritually. I cannot be fortified while my members are vulnerable. In dangerous times, faith requires preparation.”
He further justified his controversial advice. Prayers alone, he contended, were insufficient. This was especially true given rising insecurity.
He elaborated on his stance: “I am a genuine man of God. Go and perform ‘juju.’ If attackers bring guns, let those guns turn on themselves. Or use a stick to repel them. If they approach your church, they should perish before arrival. Go and do this, I insist. All my church members must comply. Otherwise, I will dismiss them. I cannot be strong while my flock is not. I am a true shepherd.”
The pastor also cited past incidents. He mentioned events in Kaduna and other areas. He noted some Christians died despite invoking Jesus’s name. This happened because, he claimed, “Jesus said until you get to heaven.” He further highlighted his ministry’s global reach. He oversees several branches in America, the UK, and Nigeria.
Public Commentary and Online Discourse
The sermon generated various reactions across social media platforms.
@Crypto_psalm commented: “Everyone needs protection. The pastor has shared vital information. Only those with backup will survive. Do not die senselessly.”
@SmartTrollHQ argued: “If ‘juju’ offered solutions, we wouldn’t still plead for security. It’s time to abandon superstition. We must demand real action.”
@AnnieSaliss questioned: “What sort of End-time pastor is this?”
@Kelvin_aproko observed: “He is already revealing the source of his power.”
@Somorii remarked: “The pastor told everyone to prepare. He clearly fears death!”
