Nollywood actor Taye Arimoro has taken legal action against actress and producer Peggy Ovire. He alleges assault during a movie set incident. Arimoro is demanding ₦100 million in damages. He also seeks a public apology from Ovire.
Details of the Alleged Incident
The dispute reportedly began when a production manager stopped Arimoro’s vehicle. Another car then blocked his path, preventing exit. Feeling unsafe, Arimoro started an Instagram Live session. He aimed to document the unfolding situation.
The confrontation escalated at the estate gate. There, Ovire and her team allegedly confronted the actor. Arimoro claims his vehicle’s tyres were deflated. He was surrounded by multiple individuals. He reported suffering several injuries. These included a fractured jaw, bite marks, and bruises. His mobile phone was also allegedly tampered with during the incident.
Legal Demands and Ovire’s Response
Arimoro’s legal representatives state that the alleged events violated his fundamental rights. They cited breaches of personal freedom, movement, and dignity. The incident reportedly caused him significant emotional distress. It also led to financial losses. His lawyers are seeking substantial compensation of ₦100 million. They also demand a public video apology. This apology, they insist, must be posted across all of Ovire’s social media platforms.
Peggy Ovire was given a seven-day ultimatum to respond to the allegations. As of now, she has not released any public statement regarding the matter. Arimoro shared the pre-action notice on his social media. His caption directed Ovire to send all responses to his solicitors.
