Significant drama unfolded at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday. The leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, vehemently opposed the impending judgment in his terrorism trial.
Proceedings turned chaotic after the court rejected several of Kanu’s applications. This included his request to present a final written address.
During the previous hearing, Justice James Omotosho had waived the need for final written submissions. The court stated it would rely on existing arguments and materials.
Kanu expressed profound displeasure with this decision. He argued it denied him a fair chance to fully present his defense.
Tensions escalated when the judge reminded Kanu of his right to appeal the court’s decision.
Kanu responded with anger, shouting repeatedly, “You don’t know the law… Don’t touch me… God will punish you now and forever.”

His outburst caused a significant disruption within the courtroom. It made further proceedings impossible.
Justice Omotosho and court security officers tried to calm him. Their attempts proved unsuccessful. Eventually, security operatives physically removed Kanu from the courtroom. This action was necessary to restore order.
This dramatic incident has reignited discussions. These conversations center on courtroom conduct. They also touch on the handling of high-profile terrorism cases across Nigeria.
