Nigerian comedian and actress Damilola Adekola, known as Princess, has strongly criticized those attacking her following the release of actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka (Baba Ijesha) from prison. Baba Ijesha’s freedom came after an appellate court overturned his prior conviction in a sexual assault case involving a minor.
Defiant Response to Critics
In a viral Instagram video, Princess addressed those hurling insults at her after Baba Ijesha’s release. She stated: “God doesn’t support child defilement. Those defending him can send their daughters to Baba Ijesha for Christmas.” Her comments reference the controversial actor’s regained freedom during the holiday season.
Call for Public Safety Measures
Princess described Baba Ijesha as a “convicted serial paedophile and rapist” with multiple victims. She urgently appealed to schools, hotels, and landlords to bar him from their premises. The comedian emphasized: “He rapes both young and adult victims. After assaulting a child, he typically relocates immediately – he’s lived in Mafoluku, Oworo, Lagos Island, and other areas.”
Demand for Sex Offender Registry
The actress formally requested the Lagos State Government to publicly list Baba Ijesha’s full name – Olanrewaju James Omiyinka – on Nigeria’s sex offender registry. This call comes despite the appeal court’s recent decision to overturn his conviction due to insufficient evidence.
Princess maintains her position that justice hasn’t been served, highlighting ongoing concerns about child safety and legal accountability in sexual assault cases within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
