Wike Claims No Politician in Rivers State Surpasses His Experience
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, stated that he is the most experienced politician in Rivers State, asserting that no other political figure in the state matches his level of expertise.
Speaking about Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s return to his political fold, Wike accused those who misled the governor into confronting him of offering nothing constructive to the state’s development.
He emphasized, “I served as governor of Rivers State and I know all these individuals. In fact, there is no politician in the state today who is more experienced than me. Since 1999, I can say I am the most experienced politician still active.”
Millennium Tower Project Deemed Financially Unviable
Wike also revealed that the abandoned Millennium Tower project in Abuja will not be completed under his administration. He explained that the project’s cost has ballooned to between ₦300 billion and ₦400 billion, making it financially unsustainable for the FCT Administration to finish.
During an inspection tour of ongoing road and infrastructure initiatives across the nation’s capital, Wike disclosed that he has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene, reclassify the tower as a strategic national project, and assume its funding.
The minister warned that allocating such a massive capital outlay to a single undertaking would cripple the territory’s finances and force the abandonment of other vital infrastructure projects needed throughout Abuja.
Responding to questions about the long‑delayed landmark, Wike stressed the importance of adopting a realistic approach to the city’s development priorities.
