Relatives of actress Regina Daniels from Ogwashi-Uku in Delta State have issued Senator Ned Nwoko a 48-hour ultimatum. They demand he formally accept the returned bride price for the actress.
The formal demand appeared in an open letter. Favour Awele Obi signed it on behalf of the community. The document accuses Nwoko of disrespecting local traditions. It claims he used his position to oppress Regina’s family.
Community leaders explained their cultural stance. Ogwashi-Uku tradition allows women to leave marriages freely. The bride price must be returned to formally end the union. They state repeated attempts were made to return the payment. Nwoko allegedly refused each time.
The ultimatum carries a clear consequence. If Nwoko continues rejecting the bride price, it will be deposited at Ikeleke Quarter. This symbolic act would declare the marriage terminated under tradition.
The letter strongly condemned recent arrests. Regina’s relatives reportedly faced intimidation. Community leaders called these actions disrespectful to their customs. The document surfaced online through Regina’s brother Sweezzy. Actor Stanley Ontop also shared it widely.
Signatories urged Nwoko to preserve peace. They requested adherence to cultural protocols. They also demanded the release of detained family members. Regina recently accused her estranged husband. She claimed he ordered her siblings’ arrests after she refused reconciliation.
The couple married in 2019 and has two sons. Senator Nwoko has not publicly responded to the ultimatum at reporting time.
