Nollywood actor Ik Ogbonna has responded to US President Donald Trump’s threat of military action against terrorist groups operating in Nigeria. The entertainer suggested that after years of unsuccessful efforts to defeat insurgency, Nigeria should welcome genuine international support.
Ogbonna condemned persistent terrorist attacks across the country. He emphasized that while many incidents occur in Christian-majority regions, the violence transcends religious divisions. The actor firmly characterized terrorism as a crime against humanity.
The film star urged Nigeria’s government to initiate direct negotiations with the United States, United Nations, and neighboring countries. He stressed the need for coordinated strategies to permanently resolve the nation’s security crisis.
Ogbonna advised against taking offense at Trump’s critical remarks. Instead, he proposed addressing the systemic failures that invited such international criticism. The actor lamented the ongoing national shame of terrorists operating freely while civilians and soldiers perish.
“When Nigeria is called a disgrace, we have two choices,” Ogbonna stated. “We can feel insulted, or we can fix what validates that criticism.” He highlighted the tragedy of soldiers dying in combat while some profit from prolonged insecurity.
