Bukky Wright, a veteran Nollywood actress, recently revealed the reasons behind her decision to leave acting and move abroad to focus on her children.
Prioritising Family Over Fame
She explained that her children were living overseas and needed her presence more than she needed her acting career. Wright said she would make the same choice again without regret.
Apology to Fans for a Silent Exit
The actress admitted she left the industry without informing her fans and feels she owes them an apology. She noted that “mama duty called” and that she kept her departure private.
Children Needed a Mother’s Love
Wright emphasized that boys, in particular, benefit greatly from a mother’s love and guidance. Being abroad, she felt compelled to be there for her sons, whom she calls her future.
Return to the Screen in 2025
After years away, Wright returned to acting in January 2025 with a role in the film Something About the Briggs. She kept her comeback secret until filming was complete, believing that keeping plans close to the heart helps them manifest.
Reviving Omotara Johnson Due to Fan Demand
Responding to persistent requests from her audience, Wright decided to bring back her 2008 character Omotara Johnson. She said the sequel was made because fans asked for it.
Staying Committed to Acting
Concluding her remarks, Wright stated that she did not tell anyone about her return, preferring to work quietly. She expressed confidence that the return of Omotara Johnson marks her permanent comeback, saying, “I’m here to stay.”
