A recently surfaced video shows the late Mary Habila refuting false claims about her death just days before she actually passed away, generating widespread discussion across social platforms.
Friend shares video after Habila’s death
Anita Baaki, a close colleague and friend of Habila, posted the footage after learning that the deceased had recorded it in response to unfounded reports of her demise that began circulating online.
Mary Habila, aged 26, died on June 27, 2026. Her remains were discovered in a room located within the country residence of Works Minister David Umahi, situated in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
Rumors emerged days earlier
According to Baaki, who works as a physiotherapist in Benue State, the speculation that Habila had died first appeared on the internet on June 24, 2026.
She explained that Habila recorded a response the following day to reassure relatives, friends, and well-wishers that she was alive and well. Baaki subsequently uploaded the clip to her Facebook account on July 20.
“I’m fine and healthy”
In the recording, Habila addressed the ongoing rumors, noting that she kept receiving calls and messages inquiring about the veracity of the reports.
“…So yeah, please, I still have calls coming in and messages coming in asking if that was true or something. I’m fine, I’m healthy. I really don’t know what was happening, and I don’t know what happened actually. But you can see I’m fine…”
The clip has since been viewed widely, prompting varied reactions from the public.
