A social media user ignited online debate by recounting how a woman declined to cover the medical costs of a motorcycle courier who crashed shortly after delivering her meal.
The narrator explained that the rider had successfully dropped off the food before losing control a short distance away, requiring emergency hospital care. His family then asked the woman to help with treatment expenses.
The claim quickly spread, splitting Nigerian netizens on whether the woman should bear any liability for the rider’s injuries.
Rider’s Family Requests Financial Assistance
The source said the woman visited the hospital once she learned of the crash. He quoted her saying, “This lady sent her bike man to fetch food for her this morning.”
He continued, “After dropping off the order, the rider met with an accident just a few streets away and was taken to the hospital.”
He added that the rider’s relatives urged the woman to pay a sizable share of the bills, citing CT scans and chest X-rays, because the mishap happened while she was using his services.
Woman Denies Liability as Discussion Intensifies
The informant further noted, “The woman argues it’s unjust; since the courier had already completed the delivery, she believes she owes him nothing.”
