A female participant in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) ignited a flurry of online discussion after alleging that her Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) turned her away due to her physique.
The accusation emerged from a widely shared video where the corps member appears in her complete NYSC attire, accompanied by the on‑screen caption: “I’m crying all night long, so why don’t you want this to end?”
Corps member recounts her experience
In the video’s on‑screen text she explained: “I won’t hide the fact that being turned away by my PPA because of my body stung; confronting bias in a scheme designed to foster unity is tough, yet I remain steadfast—my ability to contribute and excel isn’t measured by a scale.”
She did not reveal the name of the organization involved nor give additional specifics about the circumstances of the alleged rejection.
Since then statement has provoked a spectrum of reactions, with netizens debating whether the episode constitutes discrimination.
Social media responses
Reacting to the clip, user D Best remarked: “They fear your weight will break their seats. No worries, dear. Tinubu isn’t on your side? Trim down a bit and you’ll see why. Thanks.”
