An aging Nigerian gentleman has revealed a sorrowful tale of his long‑term estrangement from his loved ones, asserting that he financed his wife’s academic pursuits in the United Kingdom for many years before their marriage collapsed.
In a widely shared interview, he described how he brought his spouse from Nigeria to Britain in the 1970s and covered the costs of her doctoral studies.
Journey to the UK for His Wife’s Education
He explained that he tied the knot with his wife in 1968, moved to the UK the following year, and she joined him there in 1970.
Coming from a disadvantaged background, he chose to sponsor her schooling as an investment in her future.
“I married my wife from a very poor family. I did everything I could to support her learning; she became the focus of my life’s efforts,” he remarked.
Annual £11,000 Contribution to His Wife’s PhD
He disclosed that he bore the brunt of her educational expenses, covering her PhD program.
“I funded three years of her doctorate, paying £11,000 each year,” he stated during the interview.
Divorce and Family Estrangement
He said he has been apart from his family since 1983.
When questioned about the separation, he claimed his wife leveled accusations against him that triggered legal proceedings in Britain.
He asserted that she falsely accused him of an improper relationship with their 14‑year‑old daughter.
He believes this allegation resulted in his removal from the UK and return to Nigeria.
Children No Longer in Contact
The elderly man added that his offspring have not reached out to him for years.
“She turned their thoughts against me,” he claimed.
When asked about the daughter at the center of the accusation, he noted she was 58 at the time of the interview and had since passed away.

“I married my wife from a poor family, took her to the UK in 1970, spent £11,000 every year to train her in school up to PhD. When she saw she was established, she took me to court in the UK and lied that I raped my daughter of 11 years so that I could be deported.”
