A Nigerian woman asserts that reliance on a spouse’s finances is a primary factor causing many married females to stay in unsatisfying unions.
She explains that numerous married women would exit their partnerships if they possessed adequate monetary means to sustain themselves independently.
The commentator notes that many females remain because they lack entrepreneurial ventures or their current earnings fall short of supporting an autonomous lifestyle.
She further contends that providing these women with substantial capital or a flourishing business generating significant revenue would prompt them to abandon marriages they no longer desire.
Her remarks continue: “Are you aware that roughly 85% of married women still in their unions have not left due to a shortage of funds? Feel free to quote me. They either have no business or their enterprise does not yield sufficient income.”
“If you handed a married woman today one million naira, I am confident she would gather her belongings and depart that relationship. She would then tell herself she recognizes her value and can no longer tolerate the situation. Numerous females are weary of their marriages but remain trapped because of financial constraints, accepting undesirable conditions. Establish a profitable venture for them that yields considerable earnings, and you will witness their genuine character emerge.”
