Nollywood Actor Ikechukwu Nweke Appeals for Help After Spending ₦15 Million on Cancer Treatment
Nollywood actor Ikechukwu Nweke has turned to the public for financial assistance as he continues his battle against colon cancer.
In an Instagram video titled “My Cancer Journey,” posted on Friday, Nweke disclosed that he has already spent over ₦15 million on chemotherapy, radiotherapy, medical tests, scans, and medication.
He explained that, although he has completed several treatment stages, his doctors have advised him to proceed with another phase to improve his chances of a full recovery.
Nweke said he had kept his diagnosis private for months, relying on contributions from relatives and close associates to cover the costs.
“Good morning, good afternoon and good evening from wherever you are watching me from. I was diagnosed with colon cancer last year. I have been trying so hard to manage it privately,” he said.
“I have spent a lot of money, and my family members have contributed a whole lot.”
The actor also expressed gratitude to colleagues such as Uche Nancy, Destiny Etiko, Lizzy Gold, and Ebele Okaro for their support throughout his treatment.
“People close to me, like Destiny Etiko, Uche Nancy, Lizzy Gold, Ebele Okaro, among others, have also been supportive,” he added.
Nweke noted that the financial burden of continuing treatment has become overwhelming for him and his family.
According to him, suspending or skipping the next stage could jeopardise his recovery prospects.
“Unfortunately, my battle is not over yet. My doctors have advised that I must continue with the next phase of my treatment to give me the best chance of a full recovery,” he stated.
“I cannot afford to stop or skip this stage, but the financial burden has become overwhelming.”
He consequently appealed to members of the public to support his treatment through donations, prayers, and by sharing his video.
“Today, I’m humbly asking for your help. No amount is too small. Your support, your prayers, and even sharing this video can make a real difference in my fight for life,” Nweke said.
He also shared his bank account details to enable Nigerians and well‑wishers to contribute toward the cost of the next phase of his treatment.
