A mother has publicly appealed for legal and humanitarian assistance, alleging that her husband sexually abused their five‑year‑old daughter and that powerful individuals are trying to bury the case.
In a widely shared video, the distressed mother said that despite several medical reports confirming the abuse and the child’s consistent statements, the suspect is leveraging his wealth and social standing to avoid prosecution.
Multiple Medical Reports Confirm Abuse, Mother States
She explained that the matter was first reported to local police before being handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (State CID) for a discreet inquiry.
Both the initial medical examiners and the State CID requested separate clinical assessments.
“They carried out another medical examination. It still shows the same result,” she remarked, noting that investigators and doctors had independently spoken with the girl.
The mother stressed that the child’s account remained unchanged, even though she regularly interacts with other male relatives at school, church, and within the extended family; the five‑year‑old has repeatedly and solely identified her father as the perpetrator.
The youngster also claimed that the father physically punishes her with a belt.
Claims of Institutional Interference
The case has sparked worries about how child‑protection agencies handle such allegations, with the mother asserting that she was urged to withdraw the criminal complaint.
“I went to the police. I went to the court. The court is telling me to settle outside of court,” she said in her appeal.
Under Nigerian legislation, grave offenses such as capital crimes and child defilement cannot be resolved through out‑of‑court settlement or arbitration.
Concerned that the suspect’s financial influence could obstruct justice, she has urged child‑rights advocates, NGOs, and senior judicial bodies to intervene and guarantee a transparent prosecution.
