Bayern Munich Complete £55m Signing of Nathaniel Brown
Bayern Munich have finalised the acquisition of Germany international left‑back Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt for a reported €55 million (approximately £55 million). The 23‑year‑old has penned a contract that runs until 30 June 2031, making him the club’s second summer signing after midfielder Sacha Bari, who arrived for the same fee.
Brown enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Frankfurt, appearing in 42 matches across all competitions. He contributed four goals and six assists, featuring in 33 of the team’s 34 Bundesliga fixtures. His performances earned him a regular spot in the Germany national team.
The defender made his senior debut for Germany in October and went on to start three matches at the recent World Cup, scoring a goal and providing an assist against Costa Rica. He also found the net and set up another in Germany’s 7‑1 victory over Curaçao before the side exited in the Round of 16 following a loss to Paraguay.
After completing the transfer, Brown described Bayern as the ideal environment for his continued growth.
“One of the best clubs in the world,” he said. “I have always dreamed of playing for the biggest titles at the highest level. I set myself the highest goals and want to get the maximum out of myself every day.”
He added that conversations with head coach Vincent Kompany were influential in his decision to join the Bavarian giants.
Sporting director Max Eberl praised the signing, highlighting Brown’s rapid development and long‑term potential.
“His rapid development has been impressive,” Eberl remarked. “He still has so much potential and is one for the future.”
Brown is expected to challenge Alphonso Davies for the starting left‑back position as Bayern aim to defend their Bundesliga crown after securing both the league and German Cup last season, while also reaching the UEFA Champions League semi‑finals.
The left‑back originally joined Frankfurt from Nuremberg in 2024 for just €3 million, marking one of the Bundesliga’s most notable success stories. Although eligible to represent the United States through his father, Brown has opted to play for Germany and has become a regular fixture in the national setup.
