Atiku Abubakar Appoints Kenneth Okonkwo as 2027 Election Spokesperson
Atiku Abubakar, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate for 2027, has named veteran Nollywood actor and lawyer Kenneth Okonkwo as his official spokesperson for the upcoming election.
Okonkwo, who had previously voiced concerns about the alleged marginalisation of the South‑East after Rotimi Amaechi was announced as Atiku’s running mate, said those differences have been settled through dialogue.
He added that the interests of the South‑East have been discussed and guaranteed, taking into account the constraints of the Electoral Act, 2026 and the current political realities.
“I give all glory to God for being appointed by His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar, as his spokesperson,” Okonkwo stated. “This appointment reflects his democratic credentials; he prefers dialogue and compromise over taking offence when associates raise genuine reservations.”
He thanked Dr Kashim Imam CFR for his counsel, former ADC National Chairman Ralphs Nwosu for his sacrifices, and Dr Ekene Onwuka, Special Adviser to Atiku on Special Duties, for building a strong campaign team.
Okonkwo also expressed gratitude to his family, fans and friends for their prayers and support, asking for continued wisdom, courage, provision and protection as he undertakes this challenging role.
He concluded with a patriotic note: “Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
