PRP Aspirant Yakubu Mohammed Kingsley Rejects Call for Tinubu’s Resignation
A presidential aspirant of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) for the 2027 general elections, Yakubu Mohammed Kingsley, has distanced himself from the party’s National Chairman, Hakeem Baba‑Ahmed, over the latter’s demand that President Bola Tinubu resign amid worsening security challenges.
In a statement released on Sunday in Abuja titled “A Message of Hope to the Nigerian People: Nigeria Shall Rise Again,” Kingsley made it clear that he does not support any call for the President to step down.
“I do not support calls for the resignation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Nigeria’s democracy provides constitutional processes for leadership transition, and our focus should be on strengthening our institutions and preparing for the 2027 General Elections,” he stated.
Addressing Nigeria’s Economic and Security Woes
Kingsley acknowledged the deepening economic hardship and insecurity affecting every region of the country. He noted that families struggle to afford basic necessities, businesses are closing under rising costs, farmers cannot cultivate their lands safely, and young graduates remain unemployed despite their talents.
Drawing from his personal background, he said his early life of hawking pap to support his family in Auchi, Edo State, instilled a lifelong commitment to creating opportunities for ordinary Nigerians.
Experience and Vision for Nigeria
After 25 years at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Kingsley believes the nation’s greatest challenge is not a lack of resources but the need for visionary leadership, institutional discipline, and consistent implementation.
He outlined his proposed YMK Nigeria Project, which would prioritize security, industrialisation, agriculture, youth empowerment, infrastructure, transparent governance, and economic diversification.
“Nigeria possesses the people, the resources and the potential to become one of the world’s leading economies. Together, through competent leadership and responsible citizenship, we can build a secure, prosperous, industrialised and globally respected nation,” he added.
Kingsley’s remarks come just days after PRP National Chairman Hakeem Baba‑Ahmed urged President Tinubu to resign, citing the country’s deteriorating security situation.
