APC Denies Role in Osun Violence
A senior member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has stated that the party does not need to resort to violence to win the forthcoming August 15 governorship election.
His remarks came in response to allegations that the APC and its gubernatorial candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, are behind a surge of political violence across the state.
Oyintiloye dismissed the accusations as the work of desperate politicians seeking to tarnish the party’s image.
Party Rooted in Omoluabi Values
He emphasized that the APC is built on the timeless Omoluabi ethos, which champions integrity, discipline, humility, honesty, respect, compassion, justice, accountability, and selfless service.
The chieftain condemned the killing of innocent civilians for political gain, describing those responsible as individuals with a “dead conscience.”
Call for Peace and Justice
“The APC is a party of peace and has nothing to do with the allegations of violence against it,” Oyintiloye declared. “We condemn every form of violence, lawlessness, and bloodshed, regardless of who is involved. No political ambition is worth the loss of a human life.”
He urged those perpetrating such acts to cease immediately and called on party members, political actors, security agencies, and the general public to remain calm, law‑abiding, and vigilant while allowing authorities to investigate and bring offenders to justice.
As a progressive party, the APC remains dedicated to peaceful coexistence, inclusiveness, tolerance, mutual respect, constructive engagement, and people‑centred leadership that prioritizes the welfare, security, and prosperity of citizens.
Oyintiloye reiterated that the party has never embraced violence or intimidation as a tool for political engagement, affirming its belief in the democratic process, the rule of law, and the sovereign right of the people to choose their leaders through peaceful and credible elections.
He warned that anyone who seeks to cause mayhem, sponsor violence, or misuse the APC’s name to justify criminal acts is acting out of self‑interest and should not be associated with the party.
