PDP Rejects Claims of Wike’s Permanent Move to APC
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed suggestions that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, could permanently align with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The party insists that the former Rivers State governor remains one of its most valuable political assets, despite his current role in the APC‑led Federal Government.
Party Describes Appointment as a Loan Deal
Reacting to commendation from APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, said the praise was a public acknowledgement of the quality of leadership within the opposition. He added that the commendation reinforces the fact that the PDP continues to produce competent, result‑oriented leaders.
The PDP stressed that Wike’s appointment in the APC‑led administration should not be interpreted as a political defection. It maintained that the FCT minister remains a committed and loyal member of the party, describing his engagement with the APC‑led government as a “loan arrangement” with no provision for a permanent transfer.
PDP Vows to Resist Any Attempt to Lure Wike Away
The opposition party declared it would firmly resist any effort to lure Wike away from the PDP, stating there are no ongoing discussions, hidden clauses, or future arrangements that could lead to a permanent move. It warned the APC to refrain from entertaining hopes of a permanent acquisition, as such a move would be strongly opposed.
PDP Praises Wike’s Performance as FCT Minister
The party also commended Wike’s stewardship as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, noting that his achievements in infrastructure development and urban renewal have earned recognition across political, ethnic, and religious divides. The PDP said it is proud of his exceptional performance and views his success as evidence of the competence and governance capacity the party consistently produces in public office.
Call for Nigerians to Support PDP in 2027 Elections
Finally, the PDP urged Nigerians to back the party in the 2027 general elections, insisting that it possesses a reservoir of capable leaders who can drive national development and provide effective governance.
