Earlier social media posts by user Bolaji Fesomade claimed: “Reports from Tanzania say singer Juma Jux’s store, worth over $780 million, has been set ablaze and completely destroyed by protesters.” The message linked the destruction to violence following Tanzania’s tense presidential election.
Ojo swiftly corrected these reports through her Snapchat channel. She confirmed the store experienced looting during the unrest. However, she emphasized no fire damage occurred to the building structure.
Her brief statement read: “Looted not burnt.” The clarification came amid heightened tensions following Tanzania’s controversial elections.
The couple recently returned to Lagos with their infant son. Their homecoming followed a lavish welcome party hosted by Priscilla’s mother, actress Iyabo Ojo.
Juma Jux has not publicly commented on the incident. Meanwhile, election-related protests continue in Tanzania.
The vote sparked controversy after authorities barred key opposition candidates. This decision triggered widespread demonstrations across cities including Dar es Salaam.
Protesters demanded fair representation. They voiced frustration over alleged electoral manipulation during the voting process.
Security forces responded to demonstrations with tear gas and live ammunition. Authorities enforced a strict 6 pm curfew nationwide.
Internet services faced partial restrictions in affected areas. This measure aimed to control communication during the civil unrest.
