A 21-year-old Nigerian man has ignited online debate after declaring he will never support his mother, detailing the circumstances that caused his parents’ marriage to collapse.
Young man describes his father’s imprisonment
He explained that his father moved to China in 2013 and was subsequently detained there for a dozen years.
He said that prior to the incarceration, his father told his mother to sell just one vehicle if she required funds for school fees.
However, he accused her of selling every asset his father owned and moving the family to a more affordable residence.
He added that despite his father’s continued financial assistance from behind bars, his mother slowly ceased responding to his phone calls.

He also claimed that his mother conceived a child with another man during his father’s imprisonment and later ended the pregnancy.
He further stated that even after his father’s return to Nigeria earlier this year, his mother has avoided contacting him, maintaining that he must initiate any communication.
He noted that relatives on his mother’s side echo her stance.

“My father married my mom out of pity, and he regretted it. He wants me to understand seriously that I should never get married to a woman out of pity.
He added that despite his father’s return, he has urged his mother to call him, but she refuses, insisting that he should be the one to reach out, a view shared by their relatives.
He said he has ceased speaking with her, feeling anguished, and doubts his father will ever forgive her.
He noted that his father is now considering divorce.
He said he supports the divorce and vows never to care for his mother as long as she lives.
He mentioned he is the eldest of four, with two brothers and one sister.
He added that if his siblings wish to look after her, they may do so they will not participate.
He stated that, should she pass away bury her in his father’s property, even if his father were no longer alive, emphasizing that this reflects reality, not a wish for harm.
He is 21 years old.
