Media personality Babajide Kolade-Otitoju has revealed why Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, did not buy the presidential form from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). According to him, Makinde understands that he would not be on the ballot without first joining the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Kolade-Otitoju made this statement on Thursday during an interview on TVC. He also questioned why both Makinde and his Bauchi State counterpart, Bala Mohammed, failed to obtain the presidential forms from the Taminu Turaki-led PDP.
“Why did Makinde and Bala Mohammed not obtain the presidential form from the Taminu Turaki-led People’s Democratic Party?” he asked.
He further dismissed talks of a merger. Kolade-Otitoju said no valid merger can happen without the involvement of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). “Forget all the noise about the merger. You cannot merge without the regulator, INEC,” he stated.
The media personality compared the current situation to the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2013. He noted that the process back then was different. “APC came up with a merger around 2013, but not in this form. An individual cannot just get up, having lost out in the power game, and then claim we have a merger,” he said.
