White House Backs England for 2026 World Cup Triumph
The White House has voiced its support for England to capture the 2026 FIFA World Cup after the United States was eliminated from the tournament.
Andrew Giuliani, President Donald Trump’s representative on World Cup matters, told the Daily Mail that England would be a worthy champion if they lifted the trophy during America’s 250th‑anniversary celebrations.
Giuliani said, “If the United States can’t win on our 250th birthday, then a great storyline would be the English coming to America and winning during our anniversary celebrations.” He added that it has been 60 years of hurt for England, making a victory a beautiful moment for the team.
He expressed confidence that England can go all the way, noting they remain among the top teams left in the competition.
Giuliani also revealed that Trump has been closely monitoring England captain Harry Kane’s performances and believes the striker could inspire the Three Lions to glory.
The president’s passion for football dates back years; Giuliani recalled a round of golf he played with Trump and former England captain Wayne Rooney. Kane himself recently described a similar golf meeting with Trump in Florida in late 2024 as “a pretty surreal experience” while praising the president’s golfing ability.
England are chasing their first World Cup crown since 1966 and stand just two matches away from ending a six‑decade wait. Under Thomas Tuchel, they face defending champions Argentina in the semi‑final at Mercedes‑Benz Stadium in Atlanta after edging Norway 2‑1 in the quarter‑finals.
Argentina advanced to the last four with a 3‑1 win over Switzerland, driven by Lionel Messi. The winner of Wednesday’s showdown will meet either France or Spain in the final on Sunday.
